The Ministry of Education issued a new circular with regard to hygiene procedures that should be followed after schools reopen.
The circular is formulated as per recommendations of the Director General of Health Services.
However, a date to reopen schools is yet to be decided.
Meanwhile, minister of Education Dullas Alahapperuma says deciding on a date to reopen schools is not a political decision.
Noting that health authorities should name the safest date, the minister said that schools will be reopened afterwards, in three phases.
Only teachers will arrive at the date of reopening and this will be followed by GCE O/L and A/L students.
The rest of the students will be required to attend schools only in the third phase, he notes.
