All Island Winners Of The College

Our Alma Mater, the blessed Joseph Vaz marked another golden milestone in the history of the school, on the 31st of October 2013.
Mr.J.G.N. Thilakarathna, the Provincial Director of Education of North Western Province, a leading personality in the field of administration and education was the chief guest of the occasion. On his arrival the chief guest was welcomed at the main entrance and brought to the stage in procession with the vazians who brought fare to the school in the lead and the western band following in slow march by cadets. Hoisting of flags and a short prayer with pupils singing a hymn to bless the day. After that the whole school joined for the school anthem after that. The traditional lighting of the oil lamp took place in the amidst of the traditional drum beatings. A young student recited a poem to remind the gathering of the importance about the day. To get the blessings of the divine the dance students presented traditional Canadian dance while ‘Mangalam’ was sung in the background. It was an event that captured the hearts of the audience. Principle Rev. Fr. Priyanjeewa Gunarathna address the gathering to welcome all. In his speech he spoke to the hearts of the audience especially the young children.
Then the dance troupe that participated in All Island dancing competition entertained the guests with the dance ‘Pora Pol’. It was a very colorful and joyful event. Then the stage was given to the chief guest. He spoke to both the teachers and the students. He spoke from his heart and it was a very interesting speech, none felt the time flying as he spoke.
